Introduction

Essentially, academic writing was completely new to me as I started practicing it at the beginning of the course. Nevertheless, it allowed me to master a new part of writing, including the special rhetorical features that comprise the style. Some of them are worth mentioning, such as precision, logic, argumentation, objectivity, formality, references, and audience engagement. These features let me see that academic writing is not solely about the fact of making a self-contained text.

Main body

The course allowed me to fully grasp the nature of my writing process and, most importantly, improve it. Now I am aware of how it is possible to change it in a professional direction and independently control it. I can adjust and reshape my writing skills to the purpose of a text by following certain patterns that have been developing in my mind as the course has been going on. The difference is visible if the instructions are understandable and manageable.

The course also taught me the ability to understand various genres and modalities in which texts can be written. I am even capable of combining several genres and moods to compose an independent piece of writing. To be honest, it requires a different approach to perceiving the notion of writing as a whole. With more practice and exploration, I may develop the ability to effectively communicate across diverse textual mediums even further.

I can firmly admit that I got acquainted with some of the investigative methods to deal with research questions. The choice depends on the nature of the research question, the available resources, and the desired depth and breadth of the investigation. Some of them include surveys, interviews, experiments, case studies, and literary reviews among others. They all are valuable means that allow one to understand research questions in general.

It is known that various types of evidence are used to support claims, arguments, and research findings. The above-mentioned methods for research questions are connected to these types of evidence, as they can be utilized to support and underline the legitimacy of an investigation. Some of them are empirical evidence, research studies, statistical data, case studies, and historical evidence among others. Researchers critically evaluate and analyze a piece of evidence to ensure its legality and relevance to the work.

It is important to take into account reliable and valid sources when creating an academic piece of writing. Certain criteria should be considered while choosing sources to be used in a work. Some of them may include trustworthy publication sources, currency regarding time, appropriate documentation, peer reviews, and data transparency. One should strictly assess sources and rely on a diverse range of them to support their arguments and claims.

I also learned the importance of proper citing and providing references while working on a piece of formal writing. When it comes to intellectual property, its concepts deeply characterize the shaping of citation conventions. Some of its key concepts are attribution, prevention of plagiarism, collaboration, and legal considerations. By appropriately citing sources, I can ensure the credibility of one’s work and contribute to the growth and integrity of academic and professional communities and myself.

Conclusion

Finally, the course opened many doors for me leading not only to correct writing but many branches of text interpretation and related disciplines. Writing reflects conceptions of significance and worth in those fields through several key aspects. They may consist of purpose, audience, discourse, social impact, publication, and general human values among others. It is through these factors that a written work becomes valuable and significant and eventually gets recognized within different fields.
