Today, not all students have access to education due to its high prices. While some families may get access to specific grants or partial funding for their education, most individuals must combine their full-time jobs and studies to cover expenses. Conditions under which students pay for college vary, and this essay aims to explain the causes of high education fees, the outcomes of expensive education, and methods for students to manage their financial aspects.

Many factors contribute to establishing high fees for education, including growing demand, poor funding, and high administrative costs. When students choose a college, they focus on the quality and level of education in general. Each service has its price, and college education is not an exception in this case (Ison, 2022). Today, funding resources are not stable, which makes students responsible for their academic opportunities and progress.

As the cost of education tends to increase, a decrease in the number of people who can afford a college education is observed. This outcome provokes multiple controversies and misunderstandings because people cannot develop their skills and choose the professions they want or like. Given this trend, “society will lack the necessary skill and preparation to confront the economic and existential challenges facing our world today” (Ison, 2022, p. 1072). Therefore, people continue new ways to promote free education and create better employment opportunities, solve global problems, and benefit the government.

At this moment, there is a system of funding education for low-income students to solve the problem of high academic fees. There are state subsidies, federal grants, and financial assistance programs for low-income students (Ison, 2022). Furthermore, student loans help people get the money they need for education. These alternative sources of education funding are well-established and, according to Ison (2022), are currently optimal for the US economy. The government should deal with current political and economic issues to understand how to improve education and make college tuition free.

The modern education system has positive and negative aspects, but paying for college is associated with multiple concerns. This paper explains the causes and outcomes of high fees to clarify how to support students. The availability of federal grants and financial aid for low-income students makes it easier for them to access education. However, this funding will only apply to certain categories of citizens, and many students need to face the cost of education and the necessity to choose between available options.
